Zvents Partners with San Jose Mercury News to Provide Searchable Local Events Calendar
Newspaper Is the First to Launch Program with Local Search Technology Company to Unify Online & Offline Event Listings
MENLO PARK, Calif., July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Zvents Corporation, developer of local event technology and content products, today announced that the San Jose Mercury News will be the first newspaper to utilize the company's event search, submission and publishing product.
Using Zvents technology, the San Jose Mercury News has launched a searchable event calendar and reader event submission tools on the newspaper's website, MercuryNews.com. The launch is part of an ongoing effort by the newspaper to embrace the trend of increased online media consumption. The interface includes powerful event search capabilities for consumers and publisher management tools for the newspaper's staff. The searchable calendar contains thousands of local events aggregated by Zvents search technology, and allows readers to submit additional events directly to The Mercury News through an online web form. In addition to display on the MercuryNews.com site, editorial staff review submissions and choose a subset for publication in the printed edition.
"This innovative technology gives our readers another tool to help plan their busy lives, and enhances the way MercuryNews.com brings Silicon Valley together," said Katharine Fong, Deputy Managing Editor at the Mercury News. "Readers will be able to quickly find and share events of interest to them. It also helps us unify processes across the online and print divisions by using one interface to manage all event information."
